Texas Roadhouse doesn’t publish its recipe, so this is a home version with the same four flavors: butter, honey, sugar and cinnamon. Start here and adjust the honey and cinnamon to taste.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter, softened to room temperature
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup powdered (confectioners’) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Using unsalted butter? Add a pinch of salt.

Steps

  1. Leave the butter out for about an hour until it is soft enough to press with a finger.
  2. Beat the butter in a bowl with a hand mixer for about a minute, until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add the powdered sugar, honey and cinnamon and beat for another minute until smooth.
  4. Taste. Add more honey for sweeter, more cinnamon for spicier.
  5. Serve soft with warm rolls, or cover and keep it in the fridge.
For the restaurant texture

Serve it at room temperature. Straight from the fridge it is too firm to spread on a warm roll; give it 15 to 20 minutes on the counter.
