Calorie calculator questions

How does the restaurant calorie calculator work?

Choose a restaurant, or all 8, find a dish and tap + to add it to your meal. The meal panel adds up the calories, the price before tax and, where the restaurant publishes them, protein, carbohydrates, fat and sodium. Change quantities with − and +, and mix dishes from different restaurants in one meal.

Where do the calories come from?

From each restaurant’s own menu, exactly as printed next to the dish. Olive Garden and Panera Bread also publish full nutrition guides, so their dishes add protein, carbs, fat and sodium too. Each restaurant’s source and check date is in the table on this page.

Why do some dishes have no calories?

The Cheesecake Factory and Dave’s Hot Chicken don’t show calories on their online menu, and we don’t fill gaps from other websites. You can still add their dishes for the price, or add the dish as your own item with calories you know.

Can I add food that is not on your menus?

Yes. Open "Your own item", type a name and the calories, and add the price, protein, carbs, fat or sodium if you know them. Your items sit in the same meal as restaurant dishes.

How do I save my meal as a PDF?

Tap "Print / Save as PDF". In the print window, choose "Save as PDF" (on a computer, under Destination or Printer). On iPhone, tap Share and then Save to Files; on Android, choose "Save as PDF" as the printer. The printout lists every item with its calories, price and nutrition, and the totals.

What daily calorie target should I use?

The calculator starts at 2,000 calories a day, the reference amount on US nutrition labels. Your own needs depend on your age, size and activity, so change the target to whatever you use. This tool adds up numbers; it isn’t medical or dietary advice.

Is my meal saved?

Yes, in your own browser only. It’s still there when you come back on the same device, and nothing is sent to us. "Copy link" puts the meal into a link you can open on another device or share. Meals you built with + on a menu page can be added here in one tap.

Are the prices exact?

Prices are before tax, for the restaurant named in the table on this page, on the date shown. Restaurant chains let each location set its own prices, so your local restaurant may charge a little more or less.
